Vermont Mathematics Initiative

The Vermont Mathematics Initiative is coming to New Hampshire starting this Fall.

Consider taking the first two courses of the nationally recognized graduate program or joining the full 36 credit, three-year Graduate Program culminating in the M.Ed in Educator Practices with a concentration in Mathematics Teaching from Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU).

The VMI, in partnership with SNHU, is offering its signature course Mathematics as a Second Language (MSL) in two locations across New Hampshire beginning this Fall. MSL will be followed by the second course in the Graduate sequence, Functions and Algebra, in Spring 2021. SNHU and VMI are making this opportunity available to all PreK-8 New Hampshire teachers, with no obligation to join the master’s program. However, upon successful completion of these courses, acceptance into the VMI’s full master’s degree program is guaranteed for those who wish to continue, with the six credits earned transferring into the program.

VMI will offer these courses in both Exeter and Concord, NH. Classes are held on four, Friday-Saturday “weekends” starting at 3:00 on Friday and a full day on Saturday.

Exeter schedule: October 2-3; October 23-24; November 13-14; and, December 4-5

Concord schedule: September 25-26; October 16-17; November 6-7; and, December 4-5.
